Alyson Borycki is a self-taught artist, creating energetic and playful abstract paintings. Her paintings are inspired by shapes and patterns observed in nature as well as the array of shapes, lines and structures present in urban architectures. The juxtaposition of looser, organic shapes and more structured lines and geometry with the range of emotional experiences that those contrasts might evoke provides a continued sense of excitement.
"Through these contrasts, I try to express the idea that we hold many different, sometimes opposite, attributes that can exist all at the same time. [...] Our physical environments are not just a backdrop to our lives, but our memories of and experiences with place can affect how we view our present and future selves and the world."
Alyson had participated in several group exhibitions since the start of her professional art career and her work is held in private collections throughout Canada and the United States.
