Anand's process starts with the mixing of his oils and applying them to the canvas using tools, but never paintbrushes. Applying the pigment in this way as well as with his hands Anand plays with various degrees of friction. This layering process builds depth, fluidity and movement bringing harmony and rhythm to the work.
The deposition of non-uniform layers, movement of layers amongst one another and visibility of unique “anomalies” all draw parallels between earth science and our lives as we grow. Anand also alters the opacity, transparency, tints, saturation of the pigments using different washes.
