Andreas Krätschmer is a Picton, Ontario based wood-turner and sculptor. His work is centered around a dialogue with the materiality of wood. Exploring themes of fragility, resilience and human interaction with nature, his woodturning practice is rooted in a deep appreciation for the tradition of crafts and the cultural history of artifacts.
The fragility and resilience of our forests and of the material wood itself teaches us about our own human psyche. Andreas’ practice encourages us to embrace the beauty in cracks and imperfections around us.
