Cody Pendleton was born in Nova Scotia, raised in PEI, and has family roots going back over 300 years on Deer Island in the Bay of Fundy, New Brunswick. He has spent the last decade on Deer Island doing everything from lobster fishing to running a mobile wood-fired pizza oven and developing his unique style.
The art and coastal island life have inspired him to create his body of work, encompassing the feeling and memories of living in Atlantic Canada and on the water. Cody uses a unique mix of acrylic paint and oil pastel to portray the vast skies and bodies of water while focusing on the pull of the immense tides, the boats and creatures that coexist in our waters. Through his works, he tries to bring awareness and light to the delicate balance that exists and needs to be observed between us and the ocean.
