Makiko Hicher creates beautiful stoneware objects with simple and elegant shapes in harmony with nature. Her stoneware pieces are inspired by the rugged landscapes of Japan and Canada. Stoneware is a clay that when fired becomes a sturdy, chip resistant material suitable for using in cooking, baking, storing liquids, as serving dishes and even in the garden. These pieces are meant to be used! Safe for use in the oven, refrigerator, microwave and dishwasher.
Born in Hokkaido Japan, Makiko now lives in Montreal, Quebec. Makiko’s work has been exhibited and collected in Toronto, Montreal, Val David, Ottawa, Quebec City, Riga (Latvia) & Paris (France).
