“In my work I explore an internal part of myself that is not on always on view. As a person, I am reserved, orderly and contained, my work, however, is bold, colorful and expressive.
The large scale allows me to have a more physical connection to the paint and canvas. Music is also important to my process. It helps me shut down internal voices and doubts and provides a rhythm. I paint in oil and acrylic but when I feel a need for a closer, more visceral connection I use other tools, such as oil sticks or graphite to make marks and sometimes I paint with my hands.”
