A lifelong fascination with vibrant colour and creating has lead Wendy Solomon-Weizel to produce unusual one of a kind mixed medium pieces since childhood. Shortly before the pandemic began, she was given multiple boxes of unwanted used acetate sheets and a new idea was sparked. Repurposing and upcycling acetate, expanded to include plastic berry boxes and PET plastic soft drink bottles and after much trial and error, her signature style emerged.
Reverse acrylic painting on clear plastic, cut into shapes and mounted at different heights, allows the light to shine through and each shape to become a single jewel. When collectively mounted within a shadow box, each 3D creation tells a story, and helps to both reduce waste and add colour to the world - one art piece at a time.
